Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai is one such phenomenon of human emotion who embraced the language of his people and used local symbols to connect with them. That a man born in an era of limited expression could come to dominate the language, culture, traditions, and literature for three centuries reflects the enduring power of his legacy.
To honour Latif’s contributions to literature, spirituality, mysticism, and cultural heritage, the day
was marked with speeches and panel discussions. Jami Chandio, Dr. Sahar Gull, and Parvaiz Solangi discussed I Saw Myself: Journeys with Shah Abdul Latif, a publication of EFT written by Indian author Shabnam Virmani. The event concluded with a soulful recital by Fahim Allan at the Besant Hall Cultural Centre, Hyderabad.
